Surah Al-Ma'arij

سَأَلَ سَآئِلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍ وَاقِعٍ 1 🔖 Tafsir

A supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happen Translation by — Saheeh International

لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٌ 2 🔖 Tafsir

To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer. Translation by — Saheeh International

مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ذِى ٱلْمَعَارِجِ 3 🔖 Tafsir

[It is] from Allāh, owner of the ways of ascent. Translation by — Saheeh International

تَعْرُجُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ 4 🔖 Tafsir

The angels and the Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years. Translation by — Saheeh International

فَٱصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِيلًا 5 🔖 Tafsir

So be patient with gracious patience. Translation by — Saheeh International

إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيدًا 6 🔖 Tafsir

Indeed, they see it [as] distant, Translation by — Saheeh International

وَنَرَىٰهُ قَرِيبًا 7 🔖 Tafsir

But We see it [as] near. Translation by — Saheeh International

يَوْمَ تَكُونُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ كَٱلْمُهْلِ 8 🔖 Tafsir

On the Day the sky will be like murky oil, Translation by — Saheeh International

وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ 9 🔖 Tafsir

And the mountains will be like wool, Translation by — Saheeh International

وَلَا يَسْـَٔلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا 10 🔖 Tafsir

And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend, Translation by — Saheeh International

يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ يَوَدُّ ٱلْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِى مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍۭ بِبَنِيهِ 11 🔖 Tafsir

They will be shown each other. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children. Translation by — Saheeh International

وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَأَخِيهِ 12 🔖 Tafsir

And his wife and his brother Translation by — Saheeh International

وَفَصِيلَتِهِ ٱلَّتِى تُـْٔوِيهِ 13 🔖 Tafsir

And his nearest kindred who shelter him. Translation by — Saheeh International

وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ 14 🔖 Tafsir

And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him. Translation by — Saheeh International

كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّهَا لَظَىٰ 15 🔖 Tafsir

No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell], Translation by — Saheeh International

نَزَّاعَةً لِّلشَّوَىٰ 16 🔖 Tafsir

A remover of exteriors. Translation by — Saheeh International

تَدْعُوا۟ مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ 17 🔖 Tafsir

It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience] Translation by — Saheeh International

وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَىٰٓ 18 🔖 Tafsir

And collected [wealth] and hoarded. Translation by — Saheeh International

۞ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا 19 🔖 Tafsir

Indeed, mankind was created anxious: Translation by — Saheeh International

إِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلشَّرُّ جَزُوعًا 20 🔖 Tafsir

When evil touches him, impatient, Translation by — Saheeh International

وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا 21 🔖 Tafsir

And when good touches him, withholding [of it], Translation by — Saheeh International

إِلَّا ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ 22 🔖 Tafsir

Except the observers of prayer - Translation by — Saheeh International

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ دَآئِمُونَ 23 🔖 Tafsir

Those who are constant in their prayer Translation by — Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ فِىٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ حَقٌّ مَّعْلُومٌ 24 🔖 Tafsir

And those within whose wealth is a known right Translation by — Saheeh International

لِّلسَّآئِلِ وَٱلْمَحْرُومِ 25 🔖 Tafsir

For the petitioner and the deprived - Translation by — Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُصَدِّقُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ 26 🔖 Tafsir

And those who believe in the Day of Recompense Translation by — Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ 27 🔖 Tafsir

And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord - Translation by — Saheeh International

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَأْمُونٍ 28 🔖 Tafsir

Indeed, the punishment of their Lord is not that from which one is safe - Translation by — Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَـٰفِظُونَ 29 🔖 Tafsir

And those who guard their private parts Translation by — Saheeh International

إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ 30 🔖 Tafsir

Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed - Translation by — Saheeh International

فَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْعَادُونَ 31 🔖 Tafsir

But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors - Translation by — Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَـٰنَـٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٰعُونَ 32 🔖 Tafsir

And those who are to their trusts and promises attentive. Translation by — Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِشَهَـٰدَٰتِهِمْ قَآئِمُونَ 33 🔖 Tafsir

And those who are in their testimonies upright Translation by — Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ 34 🔖 Tafsir

And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer: Translation by — Saheeh International

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ مُّكْرَمُونَ 35 🔖 Tafsir

They will be in gardens, honored. Translation by — Saheeh International

فَمَالِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِينَ 36 🔖 Tafsir

So what is [the matter] with those who disbelieve, hastening [from] before you, [O Muḥammad], Translation by — Saheeh International

عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ ٱلشِّمَالِ عِزِينَ 37 🔖 Tafsir

[To sit] on [your] right and [your] left in separate groups? Translation by — Saheeh International

أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيمٍ 38 🔖 Tafsir

Does every person among them aspire to enter a garden of pleasure? Translation by — Saheeh International

كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّمَّا يَعْلَمُونَ 39 🔖 Tafsir

No! Indeed, We have created them from that which they know. Translation by — Saheeh International

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ وَٱلْمَغَـٰرِبِ إِنَّا لَقَـٰدِرُونَ 40 🔖 Tafsir

So I swear by the Lord of [all] risings and settings that indeed We are able Translation by — Saheeh International

عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ خَيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ 41 🔖 Tafsir

To replace them with better than them; and We are not to be outdone. Translation by — Saheeh International

فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا۟ وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ 42 🔖 Tafsir

So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised - Translation by — Saheeh International

يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًا كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ نُصُبٍ يُوفِضُونَ 43 🔖 Tafsir

The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening. Translation by — Saheeh International

خَـٰشِعَةً أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ 44 🔖 Tafsir

Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. That is the Day which they had been promised. Translation by — Saheeh International
